We are a home based instructional Individual Skills and Socialization center for adults 18 and over. We are not a day care. Our students are given tasks to complete and are taught how to take care of themselves in a functional environment. Though we do like to have fun with field trips and extracurricular outings, it's about learning how to get along with each other, follow directions and put knowledge to hands. During the school year, we spend time in the classroom learning necessary skills such as reading, writing and math. In the afternoon, our focus is on socialization and helping each other. Yes, our students help with lunch!
Therefore, we can only accept those candidates that are mobile, not aggressive towards anyone or anything, and can sit for periods of time for instruction. They must also be making progress with toileting and be ready and willing to be actively involved in what we're doing here.
We accept HCS, CLASS, TXHML and PRIVATE PAY.
To consider your student for enrollment, please:
Fill out our contact form to make an appointment for a tour and to ask questions. Our tour times are Monday through Thursday between the hours of 1:00pm and 3:00pm. You must bring your student with you.
Once you have received a tour and are told your student is a candidate, you will be given an application to fill out and return. We must have an application and a $35 enrollment fee in our Center to be placed on the waiting list. The enrollment fee also applies to agency candidates. We accept private pay as well. We do not accept Medicaid as payment, nor General Revenue accounts from MHMR.
Our Center is a small group, so we have limited slots for ISS. If we have a slot, you will be given a starting date as long as an application and application fee is on file and current. We understand the need to find a program and we work with each family to assure a smooth transition. We appreciate your patience.
