About Us
A unique place for unique people. For adults with intellectual disabilities, the sky’s the limit!
Welcome to Emma’s Education Center. We are a “Learning in a Functional Environment” education program for adults with intellectual disabilities. We are housed in Garland, Texas, in a private home. The private home setting gives us an advantage to teach home living skills that is so greatly needed for our students to function in today’s world.
Within the confines of our home setting, our students are taught the basic fundamental skills of reading, writing, math and practical education such as telling time and knowing safety guidelines. Students are also taught how to prepare meals for themselves (everyone helps), clean their surroundings and socialize with each other.
Students participate in multiple offsite activities each week. We also have extracurricular activities outside of regular hours like caregiver’s night off and weekend camp!
Our Horse Project also teaches them how to manage the care of our rescue horses. In conjunction with JRQ Ranch LLC , those who are ready for Work Study are involved in the daily operation of managing and providing for our herd.
We invite you to take a look at us and see for yourself what a difference being involved can make. Please go to our contact page to schedule an appointment for a tour and see how you can enroll your own student for our program!
Celebrating 10 years 2025

Luis Valenzuela Juarez was our Board of Directors President until he passed in 2022. He was Uncle Louie to many, but especially to Emma. Though he is now gone, he is not forgotten. He still remains a huge part of our daily operations. He was the rutter to our ship and the beacon from the lighthouse. We carry on the way we think he would want us to. He is greatly missed.

Our school program is dedicated to the memory of Carol Willis Pierce (1953-2014), Emma’s caregiver and close friend to both she and Mom for the last seven years of her life. Carol provided a secure environment to many children—including those with special needs—for over 35 years, and saw Emma and other special people as God sees them – perfect.
